The Price: $20

The Details: The news is stressful. People are sick and are dying.

But for a moment, I was able to escape all that.

Let me explain: Audrey Farrelly and her team at Serenity Garden created boxed versions of an English high tea and challenged customers to get out the fine china, silver and linens and indulge themselves.

Ms. Farrelly did right by folks with this one, serving up finger sandwiches of cucumber and tomato and hearty egg salad. It came with a substantial scone, complete with jam and clotted cream, plus tiny eclairs and petits-fours as sweets.

The curbside service was friendly and efficient — everyone wore gloves and masks.

But when I got home, I washed my hands, set the table with Grandma’s good Lenox china and a couple of pieces of silver, poured my Earl Grey tea and sat down to feast.

I sipped my tea and forgot all about the ills of the world, if only for a moment.

What a sweet respite! ¦
